At Sorensen Counseling Services, I use a variety of therapeutic techniques specific to each individual’s needs to best help clients obtain their goals, with a preference for cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, motivational interviewing, and bibliotherapy.


I have experience working with individuals, couples, and families in both inpatient and outpatient settings. 


My expertise lies in helping individuals:

  • Develop unique coping skills to better manage anxiety and/or depression

  • Help individuals advance their executive functioning skills

  • Enhance parenting skills

  • Foster healthier partner/spouse relationships

  • Navigate challenging life transitions, such as breakups, separations, divorce, and legal matters

  • Boost self-esteem

I am a dedicated LGBTQIA+ affirming provider, committed to supporting the unique needs of all individuals.

Training & Certifications
  • Creative Therapy Make and Take for Trauma Focused Therapy with Kids (2017)

  • Training in trauma-informed care, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and mindfulness-based interventions

  • Extensive experience in the assessment of suicidality/with individuals in crisis/considering inpatient psychiatric hospitalization

  • Practicum and internship hours completed with Gamblers Choice, a group developed to treat individuals, and family members of individuals, with compulsive gambling disorders 

  • Experience in working with registered sex offenders

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of North Dakota

  • Master's degree in Clinical and Mental Health Counseling from the University of Mary in Fargo, ND
